I've seen the damask trend, and have been wanting to try it. Now is my chance! This simple vanilla birthday cake was 8" round. I hadn't tried these types of patterns before, so I tested out my swirls on a sheet of wax paper first. Since it was being piped onto white buttercream icing, it couldn't be easily removed if I made a mistake, and would've smudged! Eventually, I just went with it and started piping all around the cake. For it being my first time piping like this, I think it turned out pretty decent.
